QTMAGAZINE WINTER 2016
Established Queenstown business, Linda's Hair Design,
is opening a fresh chapter after operating in the same
premises for over two decades.
After 22 years in her Upper Shotover Street salon
Linda Cross has relocated her well known salon to the
She says a change of building ownership late last year
triggered an exciting new direction for the business.
"It's been a whirlwind time looking for a new location
for the salon and we have now opened in the O'Connells
Centre on the second floor. It's a high profile central
location overlooking the resort and we are very motivated
by the move.
Linda has completely redesigned the space to feature
white washed floors and walls, black leather seating
and slim line lighting, creating an inviting contemporary
"We are a salon that caters for everyone from locals
" she says. "We work with all hair types and
clients including women and men, families and young
children. We also create up do's for formal occasions and
deliver complete wedding packages.
Linda's Hair Salon stocks Matrix, Nioxin, Keratin Complex
and Paul Mitchell products. One of the most memorable
moments of Linda's hair dressing career was hosting
Paul Mitchell's co-founder, John Paul DeJoria and his
wife Eleanor at her salon.
"A lot of clients are booked with us by hotels and private
lodges and John Paul, who is an international celebrity,
walked past and saw his product in our window. He then
had the Sofitel call and book them into the salon. It was a
major highlight and one I will never forget.
Stylist Louise Dunlop, who hairdressed on cruise ships
for many years before moving to Queenstown 14 years
ago works alongside Linda creating a talented and
experienced team. Together they offer flexible hours
with the salon open 8.30am to late seven days with late
"We like to be available and fit in with our clients' needs.
Car parking can be an issue and I always offer to pay or
make my own park available if customers are here for a
lengthy colour treatment or hair styling,
" says Linda. "It's
those little things that make a big difference to customer
service and we continually strive to provide the best
environment for our clients.
