The store is an exclusive stockist of the Specialized biking brand
and boasts the only Specialized concept store in Queenstown.
"It is a hugely innovative international bike brand represented
by some of the best riders in the world. What's unique is that
they produce every type of bike from children's to recreational,
downhill and premium racing bikes. It's the whole package,
Outside Sports general manager John Knight.
Specialized bikes are not available to purchase online which fits
with the Outside Sports philosophy of high-end sports retail.
"Everything we have in store is high performance from our
apparel through to outdoor equipment and bikes,
" says John.
"We choose brands for quality and reputation and Specialized
delivers that and more.
IF THE BIKE FITS
Outside Sports has installed a unique Specialized Body Geometry
Fit Studio enabling riders to be fitted to their bikes using the latest
Delivering more comfort, control and riding efficiency is the core
focus and bike manager Bryn Tovey says the process customises
a bike to its owner.
"Many riders suffer in silence with stiff joints, sore hips and knees
that they don't know how to fix. Body Geometry Fit technology
is an in-depth science whereby we highlight these areas and
immediately adjust the bike frame to alleviate problems and
make riding more comfortable, easier and faster.
An expert specialist from France is running the Body Geometry
Fit Studio. Appointments take up to 3.5 hours and can be made

JOIN THE FATTIES TREND
Queenstown Trail regulars who wants to ride faster or climb
higher should consider larger wheels or Fatties.
There is a definite push towards the new 29-inch wheel for
improved efficiency and small bump compliance, says Bryn.
"Over gravel, rolling speed and braking downhill is so much
easier with a 29 inch wheel. This bigger size caters for all from
cross-country to recreational riders.
He says the new 650B Fatties also have a lot to recommend them.
"With Fatties you get more traction while climbing and then
better braking so the bike feels more stable. They are a bit more
forgiving yet playful and invigorating for riders.
Try the 650B Fattie on a Specialized Stump Jumper, Rhyme, Fuse,
or Ruse model available now at Outside Sports.
TRY BEFORE YOU BUY
Checking out the credentials of a new bike before buying is a
whole lot easier with the latest demo deals at Outside Sports.
"This is something that is unique to Specialized who are really
behind facilitating riders to experiment with different bikes before
they make their purchase,
" says Bryn.
"We just charge a half day rental fee, you get to take the bike for
an afternoon test ride and then we refund off the purchase price"
The latest 2016 Specialized performance bikes are available for
demo including Cambers, Rhymes and Stump Jumpers.
SAFETY FIRST FOR KIDS
Outside Sports IS working alongside local schools to ensure kids
are riding safely. The Queenstown Primary cycle day saw over
150 bikes and helmets checked by an Outside Sports mechanic.
"This is a community initiative and we are dedicated to making
sure kids and their parents know about bike maintenance and
safety as an ongoing commitment,
" says Bryn.
FIX IT AT OUTSIDE SPORTS
Outside Sports has brought their workshop indoors this summer
with customers able to drop their bikes off at the Shotover Street
store's bike department for an immediate fix or 24-hour pick up.
"We have handpicked two top downhill mountain bike mechanics,
Janna McKenzie and Kurt McDonald, who have both been
working on the World Cup circuit,
" says Bryn.
"They are very talented and can fix any problem. We have all the
accessories and parts available and with plenty of free parking
out the back of the store it's very easy for locals and visitors to
drop off and pick up bikes on the run.
