Skyline Queenstown has plans in the pipeline to install
a suspended viewing cube at the top of the Bob's Peak
gondola which will take even more advantage of the
stunning, expansive view of Queenstown.
General Manager Lyndon Thomas says the main
reason people visit Skyline is for the incredible outlook.
"We want customers to feel a part of the view by
providing them with a unique opportunity to enjoy the
natural landscape and we believe the addition of the
viewing cube will do just that."
Resource consent approval is currently being
sought from the Queenstown Lakes District Council
and Thomas says the project will be a significant
engineering feat in order to achieve the sense of mid-
air suspension with glass.
The design, which is one metre wide, one metre deep
and two metres tall is inspired by the 'Step into the
Void' model at the Aiguille du Midi at Mont Blanc, and
is thought to be the only viewing cube of its kind in the

QUEENSTOWN AIRPORT TOPS SCENIC LANDING
Queenstown Airport has been voted the "world's
most scenic airport landing" ahead of other top ten
finalists Las Vegas, Nice Cote D'Azur and Cape Town
in an annual poll conducted by international private jet
booking service Private Fly.
An expert judging panel selected a short list of airports
with spectacular views on approach which was voted
on by travel experts and travellers.
One of the judges Bill Prince claimed Queenstown
Airport is a "world-class approach to a world-class
destination" and definitely worthy of the top placing.
Queenstown Airport CEO Scott Paterson says it is
significant international recognition both for the airport
and the region which has been in the top ten list for the
past few years.
"The approach to Queenstown is truly spectacular and
we're delighted that so many travellers around the
world think so too."

she climbed to the summit of Everest oxygen- free. She
was only 27-years-old and made the ascent alone in a
trip that was marked by controversy.
With no-one beside her to witness her achievement
she was later faced with doubters who chose publicly
not to believe her -- although
her claim was later officially
